OUR OBJECTIVES CAN ONLY BE ACHIEVED
by supporting, empowering, and lobbying.

SUPPORT

Lebanon is going through its worse economic and social crisis with more than 50% of the population living in poverty. One of our objectives is to therefore support girls and women in need to help them live their period in dignity. We provide 3 different types of kits.

THE FIRST-TIME PERIOD KIT

This kit is offered to teens and pre-teens in order to equip them prior to their first-period experience. Not only does it include period pads and pantyliners, but also girls-related amenities, all in a beautiful pouch, along with a Q&A leaflet about period and women’s health.

EMPOWER

Empowering women is key in our journey, whereby normalizing the conversation around period allows women and girls to focus on both their physical health and mental well-being. More so, ensuring their access to menstrual products allows them to go about their day, whether their academic journey or professional career, and to carry out with their day-to-day activities.

We have rolled out different campaigns in a bid to raise awareness, normalize the conversation and destigmatize the topic, as well as offer the community we belong to the needed education and knowledge.

Dawrati launched the conversation to get rid of the taboo, and help show girls and women that menstruation is a healthy part of the female life cycle!

Tell us what you call it.

Every day, more than 800 million women have their period. Yet, due to the long history of menstrual taboos, many still can’t talk about it openly, without secrecy and shame, and prefer to use alternative euphemisms instead. Growing up in Lebanon with these taboos ourselves, we often still find it difficult to challenge the stigma and use honest language!

The objective of this campaign was to showcase that all women experience menstruation differently and that there is no right or wrong.

What was your
first period story?

This is the question that Dawrati raised on social media in order to entice girls and women to share the story of when they got their first period.

Nutrition, Physical Activity & Menstruation

With the support of Mira Tueny, acclaimed nutritionist and founder of The Healthquarters and Rana Haddad, Personal Trainer and Sports Specialist, Dawrati launched a campaign aimed at shedding light on three key topics to provide women with information related to nutrition, physical activiy and menstruation

LOBBY

Lobbying efforts, policy-making, and change are key to end period poverty. Yet, this requires numerous components that we are actively developing.
First, a key element missing in Lebanon are clear facts and figures about period poverty.

We have therefore teamed with the Zovighian Partnership whose team conducted a full-fledged research and data collection on period poverty in Lebanon.
These data will help Dawrati finalize its policy proposal to end period poverty in Lebanon.
