Period pads are
not a luxury!

quotes.png

Dear reader,

Period pads are not a luxury!

Millions of women around the globe experience period poverty and are unable to buy menstrual supplies on a monthly basis. But period poverty is not only about that. It is also about lacking knowledge related to menstruation, lacking access to a proper bathroom and to a safe space where women and girls can talk freely about their period, ask questions and share experiences.

With female leaders and activists shedding light on women’s health issues, both physical and mental, period poverty is now on the agenda of policymakers in different countries around the world, from making menstruation products more accessible to offering them for free to girls in schools. What is clear though is the need to break the taboo around period and normalize the conversation.

This is what Dawrati has been doing since its launch in May 2020. Fighting to end period poverty, normalizing the conversation, rolling-out lobbying and networking efforts to make these products accessible to all women and girls as well as introducing sustainable and alternative solutions via awareness sessions.

Dawrati or menstruation cycle in Arabic, was born to empower girls and women to live in dignity.

Join us in our fight to end period poverty, one pad at a time!
